You have found an excellent tractor for the size of property you have,Both in power and size. I have a TC29 and just love it. Can't comment directly on price. I am assuming that it is a used tractor. How many hours are on it? Is it equipped with a loader?

Just a suggestion but have you looked at the
New Holland TC33D. 33 engine hp, 25 pto hp, 4x4, Hst, deluxe features including excellent extendable 3pt lift arms, same price range. Overall weight is a little heavier than than the kubota. And it has a slightly shorter turning radius.

Considering the orchard work that you will be doing. I would suggest something in the mid frame 30 hp area. You might find the tighter maneuverability to be an asset. as well as keeping your head out of the branches. The tighter steering will also be very handy in and around stall work for your horse barn. I would suggest you check into the New Holland TC29D's'or TC33D's with supersteer. Or on a more economical note maybe thier new TC30. And make sure it is equipped with a loader. Other implements that would be handy would be 3pt mowers, both finish and rotary cutter, a tiller and a landscape rake, to start with.

I have a TC29 with backhoe and loader and it is a great size for residential landscaping and small excavation work. The smaller size allows for tighter maneuverability and fits in and around tight landscaping.

Although I only live on three acres, and mow 2.5. I also do part time mowing, both feild and residential. My tractor handles a 5ft brushhog and tiiler just fine, as well as a 6ft 3pt finish mower. The TC33D has the capability of handling the same size implements with ease. Don't know what your plans are regarding your pastures, but I think the TC33D will handle all of your needs.

One thing to think about is, that New Holland should be offering thier new 14LA loader for the TC29/33 soon. It will have the curved arms like those on TC35/40/45. And more lift capacity/height than thier previous 7308 loader.I for one went with an aftermarket Woods loader last year to gain larger capacities.

I paid $20450 for my 2002 TC29 with the stronger Woods loader and Woods backhoe. Will be getting my 2003 TC29 in april for $21100, equpipped the same. Add another $1000 and you can add a hydrostactic tranny and still be under the price of that JD 4310/hoe And I'm betting my capabilities are the same or better than the JD 4310.

Should I give Deere one more try of buy Kubota

I have had a 72" First Choice RFM since April, and it held up well to a full season of Commercial mowing. It has been said before, I readily agree that the FC GM30-72 is an almost exact clone to the higher end Landpride 2572, at about 2/3rds the price of the LP. Also comes with a few improvements over the LP such as better guage wheel spindles, steel belt guards, and that great powder coat finish that holds up so well.

Currently I don't know of any compact tractors with power down on there 3pt hithes. In fact I don't beleive there are very many full size farm tractors with power down. You may have to look at getting a hydraulicly operated auger head to hang from your loader arms. Much like a Bobcat uses.

I have a three acre yard here in Western Washington. And as long as its kept mowed routinely its looks as good as any other yard planted with a good quality premium seed mix. However its simply a well maintained former dairy pasture. Its taken about 5 years to obtain this look, but I'm very satisfied with it now.

The first year I bush hogged it often to keep the weeds from getting a new start. The next couple of years I mowed with a 72" flail mower to mulch the existing grasses to a 3" height. Also added weed and feed every spring and fall.

Last April I purchased a new 72" First Choice, rear discharge, 3pt hitch mount mower. now it takes a little over three hours, once a week to keep mowed. I'm using a New Holland TC29 with no problems.

One hint though, if you have any wet areas, I would try to get them drained as many pasture grasses grow high and fast in wet areas. And can get away from your ability to mow them short enough before you get around to it.

I was quoted in April $15035 for a TC29D with the loader valve (no loader)and R4's. 7308 loader was additional $3100. But since have seen complete pkg deals for @$16500.

Does this seem like a good price

It been said several times that dealers havas much as 20% to work with. 15 to 16% seens to be normal for a lot of deals.

Yep my New Holland key will fit it, same with a John Deere Key. Its a universal O turn key.

Personnally I think your limiting yourself. For that type of investment I would also be looking at New Holland (TC18,TC21D and TC24D), as well as Kubota (B7500 or B2450). They are all good little tractors. And there are some good deals out there to be had.

i purchased a New Holland TC29 (gear Tranny) in April. Its euipped with a Woods 1012 loader and a Woods 7500 backhoe. The 7500 has basicly the same capacities as the N.H. 757 hoe but is constructed a little beefier. Price on the FEL was $2500 @ $600 cheaper than the N.H. 7308 loader. And the price on the backhoe was $5500 @ $900 cheaper than the N.H. 757 hoe. Total out the door price was $20475. The hydro TC29D would be @ $1000 more.

Peter said it right about the JD 950 other than brakes it is pretty much bullet proof. I've never heard of the Blackhawk backhoe, if it is as old as the tractor loose pins and bushings may be a factor. That Gannon box blade however is king of the box blades, they don't get any better. As it sounds, with the heavy duty equipment that this unit has it was probably used commercialy. That may or may not be a factor in its maintenence life. Plus you didn't mention what type of hours are on this tractor. You should probably contact the dealer and try to get the history of it/maybe some pictures. If the maintenence was kept up you have probably found a good unit. But without the history I would be skeptical, especially if its 300 miles from the place of purchase. Is there a John Deere dealer close to you for parts and service?

I've got to go with Peters on the 30 hp mid size tractors also. My recomendation would be a New Holland TC29/TC30 or TC33.

I have TC29 with the gear tranny,and you can that model with two options. With and without live PTO. The model with live PTO is a surperior option for any PTO driven implement operation. The J.D. 790 does not offer live PTO. The TC29 has a much more open platform that is much easier to get on and off. Neither gear model has the gear shift on the floor. The non live PTO model has the gear shift coming out of the cowling just below the steering wheel. And the Live PTO model has the gear shift on the dash to the left of the steerng wheel. PTO, 4WD and the Range shift levers are all mounted out of the way on the left fender. Other things to consider is that the TC29 can handle a loader with a superior max weight lifting capacity, as well as lift more weight on the three point hitch. The TC29 is wider for more stability, heavier for more traction, and has bigger tires, less likely to make ruts. With 200 hours on it, it is barely broke in. it would have to have been terribly abused to be in bad shape. For the same amount of money I think you would be getting a whole lot more tractor.

I purchased an 8'Sno Way shortly after they were introduced. Used it commercially for three years, and found it to be an incredibly good plow. The only problem that I had was the clear lexan became scratched
(road sand) after two seasons and the headlights would not shine through it properly. Finally bought the light kit and was satisfied

As an alternative to the rear scraper blade. Take a look at a landscape (York)rake. It will angle thus rolling the sand off to one side or the other, and it will give you a nice finish.

You might want to look into one of the older balers that had their own engine, such as some of the John Deeres and New Hollands. Two weeks ago we put up 740 square Bales (small) with an older New Holland that had the Wisconson engine on it for power. My New Holland TC29 had no problems with 6 straight hours of baling, pulling that New Holland baler. Iwish I could tell you the model # but its Paint had long since disapeared.
